THE POSITION: Fairfield City Council is seeking an ambitious professional with sound knowledge of compliance related strategies. This position will suit a professional who wants to contribute and influence the future direction of Council in the areas of public safety and building compliance.

The successful applicant will assist in the implementation and delivery of compliance programs including private swimming pools, building safety and policies that will fulfil Fairfield City Council’s commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment for both our residents and visitors. You will undertake a principal role regarding private swimming pool safety, building compliance and provide professional advice in planning matters as required.

ESSENTIAL:  You will have recent building surveying experience and the appropriate tertiary qualifications, knowledge and understanding in the field of compliance including knowledge of building regulations, fire safety and swimming pool legislation, relevant standards, and legislation related to the function of the position.  You will also have established communication, organisational and IT skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines and to balance competing priorities. This role is key in building the level of knowledge in the Building Control and Compliance Division.

SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight
  • This position is a Grade 6, salary range is $92,545 p.a. to $102,152 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $ 108,404 p.a, plus 11.5% Super.
  • Flexible working hours are available.
