North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD. Our aim is to ensure North Sydney remains a welcoming, well-designed, safe and beautiful environment for residents, workers and visitors.
North Sydney Council’s historic Coal Loader site on the Waverton Peninsula has been transformed from an industrial coal loading facility to a regionally significant sustainability centre. Completed and launched mid 2011, the 2.3ha Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability showcases innovation, enables hands-on learning about sustainability, and serves as a community meeting hub for Council's extensive range of environmental and sustainability programs.
The Coal Loader site features the Caretakers Cottage, community garden, Bushcare nursery, Indigenous bush foods garden, historic coal loading tunnels and platform, café, Mess Hall and the North Sydney SES headquarters.
The purpose of the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability Coordinator position is to effectively and efficiently oversee and manage all associated operational and educational functions of the site. This includes the identification, development and implementation of new strategies, programs and projects; coordinating staffing requirements of the Centre; managing the booking systems, overseeing and coordinating facilities management and technical operations; third party liaison and daily activities and bookings.
