The role
CBCity has an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated Graduate Town Planner to join our Development Unit. You will be mentored and trained by a team of experienced and supportive Town Planners and Leaders. This position will provide planning and development information to the community, Council staff, developers and public bodies via the Duty Planner service.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Attend to members of the public at the Customer Service counter, email and on the telephone in a professional and personable manner.
  • Undertake planning related process improvement projects.
  • Prepare assessment reports and determinations on development proposals including to the Local Planning Panel, Sydney South Planning Panel and the Land and Environment Court.
  • Assess Development Applications and Subdivision Certificates in accordance with Council’s adopted policies.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and memorandums about development matters.
  • Coordinate comments from other areas, both inside and outside Council, about development matters.
  • Undertake site inspections.
  • Meet relevant processing timeframes nominated by Council.

You will have

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or currently undertaking studies thereof.
  • Current Class C driver’s licence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of technical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • An approachable and personable manner from previous customer service experience.
  • Previous experience as a Development Assessment Officer/Town Planner with technical knowledge of relevant Acts and other statutory controls.
  • Current knowledge and understanding of trade related issues, current trends and industry best-practice and development.

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $69,728 (Grade D, Step 1) + 11.5% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
