The Role

Join Canterbury-Bankstown Council as a Greenkeeper and help shape the outdoor spaces that bring our community together.

This permanent full-time opportunity will see you working within a skilled and supportive team responsible for maintaining and improving Council's parks, sportsgrounds, ovals, turf wickets, and golf course facilities.

Through your work, you'll help ensure these valued community assets are presented to a high standard, providing safe, attractive, and enjoyable spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Assist with parks, sports fields, turf wickets, ovals, golf course, preparation, maintenance and renovation in accordance with service agreements, rosters and programs

  • Assist with providing recommendations for annual improvement, maintenance and renovation programs and implement as required.

  • Assist with the inspection of sports fields, ovals, etc. particularly following periods of excessive rainfall, and provide recommendations as to whether they should be closed or opened.

  • Working of flexible work hours including weekend and public holidays work on an 'as required basis'.

  • Undertake risk and hazard assessments of areas under their control and where necessary take corrective action.

  • Ensure all works under the position holder's control and completed within timeframes.

  • Finalise completion of works requests as allocated.

You will have:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Greenkeeping, Sports Turf Management, Horticulture or a similar relevant field

  • Current Class C Drivers Licence

  • Experience in turf wicket and sports fields preparation and maintenance.

  • Skills & experience necessary to fulfil the role, responsibilities, duties and competency requirements of the position

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $74,692 (Grade D, Step 1) + Allowance + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience
