Connecting people, culture, and knowledge.

Join Blacktown City Council’s Library Services team and help preserve and share the history of the Blacktown community. You support the Local History Librarian while providing practical library services that help customers find information and use library resources.

You assist customers at library service points, answer information enquiries, shelve and check resources, and help customers use online and digital services. You organise, index and preserve photographs, maps, newspapers and other local history material. You also research and digitise material for Blacktown Memories, assist with oral history recordings, prepare resource guides and support information sessions.

Your work keeps Blacktown’s history organised, accessible and preserved for future generations. You work within the Community Learning team, contribute to regular staff meetings and work rostered public desk shifts, including evenings and weekends where required.

You must bring suitable library experience, strong customer service and communication skills, digital literacy and sound problem-solving skills.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

  • a secure, permanent, full-time role with one of Australia's largest councils
  • an entry level salary commencing at $1,420.05 per week
  • a 35-hour working week
  • access to Council's flextime arrangement

  • access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
