The role

The Senior Urban Designer plays a key role in the Urban Design Team and will inspire others to value design excellence, placemaking, and liveability. 
You will provide expert professional urban design advice to a range of projects, including place-based master plans, development applications, planning proposals and significant developments. You will also support the digital and visual transformation of planning controls through the visual DCP and the 3D Modelling Projects.

This position is being offered on a temporary full-time basis for a 2-year period.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Deliver place-based urban form and placemaking principles.
  • Provide urban design advice for planning proposals and significant developments.
  • Prepare urban design referrals for development applications and appear as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court.
  • Prepare design guidelines and site-specific development control plans.
  • Support the digital and visual transformation of planning controls.

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Design or a related design field (Architecture, Landscape, or Urbanism).
  • Minimum 8 years post-graduate experience including senior positions.
  • Understanding of NSW planning system and development control policy.
  • Experience in placemaking, urban renewal, and built-form design.
  • Experience in preparing/assessing development applications and planning proposals.
  • Proficiency in Giraffe, SketchUp, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.

The salary range for this opportunity is $101,423 - $117,870 (Grade H, Step 1-5) + 11.5% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
