The role

As Team Leader – Spatial (GIS) & Customer Information Services, you will lead a diverse function that sits at the intersection of technical expertise and customer-focused service delivery.

 

This is a unique leadership opportunity combining spatial data management with customer information services - offering a role that goes beyond a traditional GIS position. You will guide a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality spatial systems and reliable, accessible information that supports both internal decision-making and positive community outcomes.

 

With a strong focus on leadership, continuous improvement and service excellence, you will drive outcomes that enhance how Council delivers services and engages with its community.

 

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Lead, coach and develop a specialist team to deliver high-quality spatial (GIS) and customer information services
  • Manage Council’s GIS and property systems, ensuring accurate data, spatial analysis and high-quality outputs
  • Enhance the customer experience through ongoing service improvements, performance monitoring and capability uplift
  • Oversee key information functions, including property addressing and naming systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Provide expert advice on spatial data, systems and information services to support decision-making across Council
  • Lead and contribute to projects that improve how information is captured, managed and used
  • Build strong working relationships across Council and with stakeholders to deliver effective outcomes

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Spatial Information, GIS or a related discipline
  • A current Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams to achieve outcomes
  • Experience delivering spatial information services, including GIS and related systems
  • Strong knowledge of property and customer information systems, including addressing and data management
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to a range of audiences
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with a commitment to customer service
  • A strong commitment to Council’s values

 

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $126,229 (Grade J, Step 1) plus 12% super.
