Are you passionate about landscaping? Do you enjoy working outdoors and operating a variety of plant and equipment? Banyule City Council is looking for a skilled Landscaping Plant Operator to help maintain and enhance parks, sports fields, and landscaped areas across our community.

As a Landscaping Plant Operator, you will work in a positive team environment with a great culture. You will:

  • Operate plant (front-end loader/backhoe, bobcat/skid steer) to maintain Council’s parks, landscapes, playgrounds and sports fields.
  • Apply landscaping practices to ensure green spaces are well-maintained and meet community expectations.
  • Complete programmed and requested maintenance tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Work as part of a collaborative and supportive team, helping to create and maintain quality public spaces.
  • Undertake landscape construction and maintenance, and undertake repairs to nature strips.
  • Support teams in the establishment and maintenance of garden beds and native plants.

The working days/hours for this role are Monday to Friday 6.30am to 3.30pm (daylight savings) 7.00am to 4.00pm EST.

What you'll bring - skills, experience and certificates:

  • Highly competent and experienced in front end loader/ backhoe operation (frontend loader and bobcat/skid steer licence/competency).
  • Demonstrated experience in landscape practices.
  • Licenced safe and competent operation of vehicles and plant up to 13.9 GCM.
  • Understanding of/or aptitude in In Field Technology (Electronic Tablets).
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • A high level of integrity with a professional approach and ability to demonstrate Council’s values
  • Understanding of/or aptitude for maintenance in the operation of plant and machinery.

Mandatory Pre-employment checks:

  • Medium Rigid Licence and Loader/skid steer competency
  • Medical Check
  • White card training
