As Manager Engineering and Assets, you'll lead the strategy, planning and delivery of the infrastructure that keeps our community connected, thriving and prepared for tomorrow.
  
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the strategic management of Council's engineering and infrastructure assets across their entire lifecycle—from long-term asset planning and renewal programs to major capital projects and new infrastructure delivery. You'll provide expert engineering leadership, turning ideas into practical solutions through concept development, detailed design, procurement, construction and project delivery.
  
Working collaboratively across Council, with industry partners and the wider community, you'll ensure our infrastructure is planned, delivered and maintained sustainably to meet the needs of today while preparing for the challenges of tomorrow.

What Council Offers

• Base Salary to be negotiated
• Motor Vehicle Allowance
• Up to 12.5% Superannuation employer contribution for contributing members
• 5 weeks annual leave plus 17.5% annual leave loading

Our Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking engineering leader who combines strong technical expertise with strategic vision and outstanding people leadership.
  
You will have a proven track record in engineering, infrastructure asset management and capital works delivery, together with the ability to build strong relationships across Council, industry, government agencies and the community.
  
A collaborative and solutions-focused professional, you will be passionate about delivering sustainable infrastructure outcomes, driving continuous improvement and developing high-performing teams that reflect Council's values and commitment to service excellence.

You will be able to demonstrate:

 

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline) together with substantial experience in engineering operations and leadership.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams in a complex operational environment.
• Extensive experience in engineering, infrastructure planning and asset management, including the implementation and management of asset management systems, policies and financial frameworks.
• High-level knowledge of contemporary asset management planning, strategy development, governance and best practice.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver long-term asset renewal programs that maintain infrastructure to agreed service levels within budget.
• Proven experience managing multiple capital works projects, including project planning, specifications, procurement and budget development.
• Strong ability to lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary teams while fostering a high-performing and collaborative workplace culture.
• Previous Local Government experience will be highly regarded.
• Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or the ability to obtain registration within six (6) months of appointment.
• Current Queensland Class C Driver Licence.
