 Job Description

About the role

The Financial Accountant is a full-time fixed-term position until 30 September 2027 and is responsible for assisting the Finance, Business Team in accurately producing financial and accounting information, reporting and monitoring, adhering to stated policies and directions leading to efficient and effective outcomes in meeting the goals of the Corporation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with monthly financial board reporting and analysis.
• Prepare financial reports for government agencies and external stakeholders.
• Maintain and develop financial management system reports.
• Support preparation of the Annual Financial Report.
• Manage tax, compliance, BAS, GST, PAYG and borrowing reporting obligations.
• Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
• Maintain accurate project costing, overhead allocation and asset accounting.
• Complete asset reconciliations and asset revaluation processing.
• Support annual budgeting and Corporate Plan development.
• Provide financial reporting and insights to support decision-making.
• Oversee inventory control and monitor cash flow performance.
• Support, train and share knowledge with Finance team members.
• Foster effective communication, collaboration and a positive workplace culture.
• Champion diversity, inclusion, EGW values and accountable behaviours.
• Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, risk management, records management and confidentiality requirements.

* Plus 12% employer superannuation contribution. We reserve the right to remunerate successful candidates within the span of this classification dependant on demonstrated skills, experience and qualifications.

 Desired Skills and Experience

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

1. A degree in Accounting or Finance, with a demonstrated sound understanding of financial principles.
2. Well-developed time management and problem-solving skills combined with the ability to prioritise to ensure high quality and accurate outcomes during times of peak activity whilst ensuring attention to detail.
3. Well-developed interpersonal skills ensuring the ability to work effectively with people at all organisational levels.
4. Effective project management skills, including the ability to work in and utilise a team-based approach to achieve outcomes.
5. A positive attitude towards personal development and knowledge of East Gippsland Water and/or the water industry, development including being accountable, innovative, passionate and united to achieve corporate objectives.
