What you’ll do

As the Senior Team Leader – Waste Management, you will:

  • Lead and supervise operational waste services staff, ensuring high performance and team engagement.
  • Drive efficiency and service excellence, overseeing the timely and safe delivery of kerbside waste collection, dumped rubbish removal, street presentation, waste recovery, bin maintenance, and booked collections.
  • Improve and innovate waste services, testing, reviewing, and refining service delivery methods to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
  • Manage resources effectively, ensuring optimal use of staff, contractors, equipment, and technology.
  • Prepare contracts, tenders, and procurement documents, ensuring best-value waste management solutions.
  • Monitor data and reporting, providing insights to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Champion contamination management practices, promoting sustainable waste solutions and community education.
  • Ensure full compliance with OH&S, environmental regulations, licensing, and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to emergency management preparedness and response as part of the Council’s waste services strategy.
  • Provide technical advice on waste infrastructure and review waste management plans for development applications.

What you'll bring/what we are looking for

  • Possession of an AQF recognised a degree or diploma or higher in a field relevant to the position including Business, Environment or a related relevant field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead an operational workforce engaged in the on-ground delivery of waste services.
  • Exceptional personal communication skills, and ability to provide leadership and supervisor for staff and contractors.
  • Strong computer skills and capable of understanding GIS, and industry specific software (such as specialised waste management software).
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management.

Pre-employment requirements

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (Previously known as a police checks)
  • Pre-employment medical assessment
